BEHIND THE SCENE AT BRUME ORPIN - SCENTS & DECORATION

The influence of decoration and architectural materials on the creation of scent identities.

When we think of creating a fragrance, our minds often turn to the ingredients and olfactory notes that make it up. However, it's important to remember that our role as perfume designers goes beyond this assembly. The environment in which the fragrance will be discovered plays a crucial role in the way we conceive it. The atmosphere of a place, its decoration and the architectural materials that characterize it influence our creative process before giving birth to unique interior fragrances.

The decoration of a space, whether it's a palace, a hotel, a boutique or a reception area, is as much an expression of a unique identity as it is of a destination. It creates an atmosphere, a sensation that envelops us as we enter the space. Similarly, architectural materials such as wood, marble, glass or metal bring a particular texture and aesthetic to the environment.

This overall ambience can have a significant impact on our sensory experience. When we find ourselves in a warm, cosy space, our mind is invited to explore comforting olfactory notes, such as mineral, woody or amber. Similarly, a modern, uncluttered space can evoke fresher, airier scents, such as citrus or floral notes.

Decoration and architectural materials act as sources of inspiration for Brume Orpin. They encourage us to create fragrances that dress up and harmonize the atmosphere of the place, reinforcing its very own identity. For example, a Mediterranean villa with white walls, wooden shutters and a sea view might inspire an interior fragrance with notes of salty white flowers and driftwood, capturing the Mediterranean spirit.

Architectural materials can also be a source of creativity for the design of perfume bottles and packaging. Shapes, patterns and colors used in decoration can be reinterpreted in bottle design, creating a visual continuity between environment and product. This reinforces the overall fragrance experience and allows consumers to feel at one with their surroundings.

When we create interior fragrances, we seek to illustrate the essence of a place and convey it in a fragrance. Architectural materials such as wood, stone or glass thus influence our accords. For example, cedar wood may evoke the interior of a mountain chalet, while frosted glass may recall the soft, mysterious atmosphere of a spa.

In short, the influence of decoration and architectural materials in our olfactory identity creations is undeniable. They inspire us, nourish our imagination and guide us in creation. A place with a polished decor, whose fragrance is not adapted to the setting, will propel guests into a different experience. That's the whole point of a bespoke scent signature: to add an extra touch of soul.

So, the next time you find yourself in an inspiring space, take the time to appreciate its fragrance.
